Before the project implementation the city centre of Poznań lacked a representative Concert Hall that could be used by both students of the Academy of Music and residents of the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship. Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań that wanted to organise concerts of its students and graduates had to rent the Assembly Hall of the University. However, in case of a school of arts absence of a Concert Hall actually prevented proper development and failed to give opportunity to present the talents of students and graduates of the Academy to a broader audience.
The object of the investment covers construction of a Concert Hall which constitutes the stage III of extension of the buildings of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. The entire facility was divided into the following parts:
- The external building constituting the acoustic protection of the city from the noise;
- An internal building, which is an isolated room of the Concert Hall;
- Rest and refreshment facilities and didactic facilities of the Concert Hall;
- Basement and connector between the Concert Hall and the Academy of Music.
As a result of the project implementation a Concert Hall was constructed. The facility has 5 stories, including one underground storey. The total usable area of the constructed building amounts to 3,762m2. The facility is equipped in a lift and cargo elevator enabling to transport the instruments directly to the stage. The building is fully adjusted to the needs of the disabled. As a result of the project implementation 576 seats were created, including 47 in the rehearsal room and 5 in the percussion section.
The project aimed at improving the quality of education and access to knowledge through extension of the new Concert Hall of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. The project implementation improved the role of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań as a regional music education centre as well as regional cultural centre.
