Development of plans to counteract the effects of drought in river basin areas
The subject of the project is to update the study “Protection against drought in water management planning – methodology of conduct” and on its basis to develop plans to counteract the effects of drought in river basin areas.
The aim of the project is to prepare plans to counteract the effects of drought for all river basin districts in Poland (Vistula, Odra along with Uecker, Dniester, Danube, Jarft, Labe, Niemen, Pregoła, Świeża). Due to the small area of the Uecker basin area in Poland (14.7 km2) and the lack of significant watercourses within Poland, the above basin district will be included together with the Odra basin area.
The implementation of the actions included in the Plans contributed to limiting the phenomenon of drought and minimizing the effects of drought. The direct effect of the project implementation, constituting the ecological effect, is the development of plans to counteract the effects of drought in the river basin areas.
The tangible effect of the project is the updated methodology for implementing plans to counteract the effects of drought and plans to counteract the effects of drought in the river basin areas, which will be developed on the basis of the updated methodology. The plans include:
- analysis of the possibility of increasing the available water resources,
- proposals for the construction, expansion or reconstruction of water facilities,
- proposals for necessary changes in the use of water resources and changes to natural and artificial retention,
- catalog of measures to reduce the effects of drought.
