Improvement of the functioning of public transport in Toruń - BiT- City II
The project is of key importance for the development of public transport in Toruń. The main goal of the undertaking is to improve the system of urban public transport, leading to increased participation of people using means of public transport. The project is consistent with the scope and purpose of Axis VI. Development of low-emission public transport in cities – specific objective: increasing the use of low-carbon urban transport. The implementation of tasks will help reduce automotive congestion in the city, improve traffic flow and reduce the negative impact of transport on the environment.
The material scope of the project includes:
- Task 1: Construction of a tram line with accompanying infrastructure to the so-called Jar district;
- Task 2: Modernization of the tracks along with the traction network at Bydgoska Street;
- Task 3: Modernization of tram tracks along with the traction network along routes number 1 and 5 from Daszyńskiego Square to Ślaskiego Street;
- Task 4: Modernization of tram tracks along with the traction network along route number 2 from Niepodległości Square to Reja Street, including track drainage construction;
- Task 5: Modernization of the tram tracks along with the traction network and road system bp. Jana Chrapka Square to Podgórna Street;
- Task 6: Purchase of low-floor tram rolling stock (5 items);
- Task 7: Purchase of technical vehicles;
- Task 8: Purchase of low-emission buses (6 electric buses and 14 hybrid buses).
The project in numbers
- The total length of new or modernized tram lines – 10.1km;
- The number of purchased passenger rolling stock units in public urban transport – 25;
- Capacity of passenger rolling stock purchased for public public – 2540 people;
- Number of facilities adapted to the needs of people with disabilities – 1.
