Expansion of the Voivodeship Multidisciplinary Hospital in Gorzów Wielkopolski by the Radiotherapy Center, in order to increase the availability of high quality health services in the field of cancers
The main objective of the project is to improve the availability of high quality medical services in oncology. Specific objectives are: – stopping the increase in cancer incidence – reaching average European standards in terms of early detection of cancers and improvement of accessibility to the most effective methods of treatment – creating conditions conducive to application, for the needs of oncological practice, of the huge progress in knowledge of the causes and mechanisms of malignant tumors’ development, – increasing the availability of methods for early diagnosis of malignant tumors as well as availability of modern, proven-in-practice methods for treating malignant tumors. The subject of the investment is the establishment of the Radiotherapy Center at the Voivodeship Multidisciplinary Hospital in Gorzów Wielkopolski (Wielospecjalistyczny Szpital Wojewódzki w Gorzowie Wlkp. Sp. z o.o.) at 1 Dekerta Street. Within the center, the following will be established: a radiotherapy department with 25 beds, a hostel for patients with 26 beds, and an administrative/technical section.
The project consists in the construction of a single-story, partially basemented building, connected via a passage (at the level of the basement or ground floor) to the existing hospital complex with a total area of 4607.23 m2, with the possibility of further collision-free extension. The site of the investment is land plot no. 111/9. The planned investment is located in the southern part of the hospital buildings complex. The project also assumes land development including a parking lot. In addition, as non-eligible expenditure financed as a complementary undertaking from the National Program for Combating Cancer, the investment includes the purchase of two high-power electric accelerators, computer tomograph, 3D treatment planning systems, radiotherapy verification and management system, integration with the hospital’s information system, dosimetry equipment, model room’s fittings and a set of immobilizing fixtures. The purchase of furniture, beds and other equipment for patients has also been provided for.
Output indicators:
1. Number of supported medical entities – 1.
2. Number of facilities adapted to the needs of disabled persons – 1.
3. Number of projects in which the costs of reasonable improvements for people with disabilities were covered – 1.
Results:
1. Population covered by improved health services (CI 36) – 512,000
2. Employment increase in supported enterprises O/K/M – 26 FTE.
The added value shall be:
– comprehensiveness of services in the area of treatment of oncological diseases,
– elimination of the need for patients to travel to centers more than 100 km away and possibility of local treatment, implementation of the objective identified in many strategic documents, including Health Needs Maps in the field of oncology for the Lubusz Voivodeship.
