Development of degraded public space in the city of Zielona Góra
Project description: The main objective of the project is the social inclusion of the residents of the revitalized areas of the city of Zielona Góra. The specific objective is to improve the functionality and quality of public infrastructure aimed at social and cultural activation of the residents of degraded areas. The project is a part of the ROP L-2020 – Specific objective of Priority Axis No. 9. The effect will be the regeneration of degraded areas by restoring and assigning new social, cultural, educational, recreational and tourist functions. This will be achieved by reconstruction of the existing public spaces into places conducive to recreation and rest as well as organization of cultural events, equipping these places with aesthetic and functional street furniture, maintaining the existing and arrangement of new greenery, improvement of the quality of path surfaces and application of other solutions facilitating movement within the revitalized areas, ensuring public safety through installation of video monitoring, creation of educational pathways. The project covers revitalization of an area of 25.3609 ha (253,609.00 m2). The works will be carried out on the Square at the Zielona Góra Philharmonic, Theatre and Matejko Square, Wine Hill and Gęśnik Valley. The monitoring will cover the entire area of the City Centre and the Gęśnik Valley. The impact of the project goes beyond the area of implementation the project, its effects will be enjoyed by the residents of Zielona Góra as well as the residents of 4 communes that are part of the Municipal Functional Areas of Zielona Góra. Thanks to the project, the residents of Zielona Góra and the Municipal Functional Areas of Zielona Góra will gain attractive, publicly available and safe places for recreation and rest, education and raising regional awareness, as well as places of contact with nature. The project will contribute to the increase of social activity of people withdrawn from social and cultural life. Increased use of public goods by these people will contribute to the improvement of their quality of life, encouragement to change their situation, integration with other residents.
