Full title: Creating the conditions for using multi-modal transport by constructing in the vicinity of the railway station in Ciechanów a transport hub, together with the redevelopment of ul. Sienkiewicza (access road to the railway station) and development of the cycle-path network, as well as reducing exhaust emissions in Ciechanów by building a new peripheral local road for the requirements of extending the town’s public transport system.
Description: Ciechanów is one of the most important urban centres of the norther part of Mazovia. It is also an important hub in Poland, where national roads nos. 50 and 60 meet, together with regional roads nos. 615, 616 and 617; the railway line connecting Warsaw and Gdańsk also goes through the town. The authorities, aware of the necessity to shift towards a low-emission economy, undertook the implementation of a project with the goal of improving urban mobility. Thanks to the support of European funds, a Park&Ride transport hub was built at the railway station, with 208 parking spaces, 40 bicycle stands, bus stands, pavements, cycle paths and the accompanying infrastructure.1.3 km of cycle path was built along ul. Sienkiewicza in order to facilitate access to the bicycle stands for cyclists. The project includes the construction of a new peripheral local road, together with cycle paths (6.67 km), pavements, slip roads, bus bays and bus stops. The purpose of all of this is to reduce environmental pollution and develop the urban public transport system.
