PROJECT NAME: SCHOOL CLOSER TO SCIENCE – CREATING IN 7 COMMUNES OF THE WARSAW FUNCTIONAL AREA THE CONDITIONS FOR TEACHING BASED ON THE METHOD OF EXPERIMENT THROUGH INCREASING TEACHERS’ SKILLS AND COMPETENCES IN WORKING WITH THE METHOD OF EXPERIMENT, EQUIPPING SCHOOLS WITH EDUCATIONAL SETS AND THE TOOLS FOR TEACHING THE NATURAL SCIENCES AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCHOOL PUPILS’ COMPETENCES IN REGARD TO THE NATURAL SCIENCES, INCLUDING VIA THE IMPLEMENTATION OF EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH PROJECTS.
The project “School closer to science” was prepared by the Copernicus Science Centre in partnership with the local government in Mazovia. 38 schools from Warsaw and its vicinity are participating in it. The goal of the project is to create in these schools the conditions for teaching with the usage of science, including elements of research knowledge. The project’s premise is that of closer relations between education and science, through the occupational training of teachers and equipping of classrooms with the essential equipment. School labs received educational sets that help with the introduction of new methods in teachers’ work. The project aims to increase competences in IT, mathematics and the natural sciences, to shape attitudes of creativity and teamwork, and to promote occupational activeness – i.e. key topics for a young person in the 21st century.
