Construction of the Suburban Agglomeration Railway PKA: Purchase of rolling stock along with construction of technical facilities.
The project covers the purchase of rolling stock intended for servicing connections made as part of the Suburban Agglomeration Railway (operating under the name: Podkarpacka Kolej Aglomeracyjna) and the construction of technical facilities enabling the maintenance of railway vehicles owned by the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The project is, apart from the infrastructure part, the rolling stock part of the PKA creation.
Geographic scope
The purchased vehicles will ultimately be used for PKA connections in the following relations:
- Rzeszów – Kolbuszowa – Rzeszów
- Rzeszów – Rzeszów-Jasionka – Rzeszów Airport
- Rzeszów – Przeworsk – Rzeszów
- Rzeszów – Dębica – Rzeszów
- Rzeszów – Strzyżów – Rzeszów
The technical base will be located in Rzeszów at the Rzeszów Staroniwa station.
Objective scope
The project includes:
- purchase of 8 three-unit electric multiple units and 2 two-unit diesel multiple units (the task has been completed),
- construction of a technological hall with a car wash along with the construction of 3 inspection and repair tracks equipped with technological devices and 1 track for a year-round rolling stock washing station,
- reconstruction of the track system and increasing the functionality of the Rzeszów Staroniwa station,
- construction of a new traction network in the tracks,
- disassembly of the existing and construction of a new track system,
- construction and reconstruction of telecommunications networks and devices related to the construction of, among others a technical service point with back-up facilities,
- construction of new railway traffic control devices.
Personal scope
The Beneficiary of the Project is the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, which will be fully responsible for the preparation, implementation, supervision and final settlement of the project.
Purpose of the Project
The main goal of the Project is to strengthen the role of rail transport and improve the quality of passenger transport services in the area of the Rzeszów agglomeration. The main goal will be achieved as a result of achieving the following general goals:
- shortening the driving time,
- improving the frequency, communication and punctuality of connections,
- increasing the accessibility of rail transport in agglomeration traffic,
- improving the mobility and accessibility of rail transport for residents of the Rzeszów agglomeration,
- improving the quality of agglomeration rail transport services.
The planned measures are to reduce the share of car traffic in the center of the agglomeration city, improve territorial and economic cohesion and accessibility to regional urban centers, and reduce the negative impact of transport on the environment.
