Construction of the Social and Cultural Center together with a Library in Wieliczka
The subject of the project was the construction of the first Social and Cultural Center in the municipality. The activities were aimed at building a library together with a cinema and auditorium, as well as the adaptation and reconstruction of a building belonging to the complex of the historic Konopka Brothers’ Palace. The building is a modern, with attractive form in which now a wide range of various activities, workshops, events of a cultural, educational, reading and social nature will be carried out. Mediateka in Wieliczka – is a new cultural meeting place.
The main recipients of the project are residents of the city and municipality of Wieliczka. In the newly created facility of the Social and Cultural Centre together with the Library, the Poviat and Municipal Public Library as well as a cinema operate. Children from 5 years old use the facility. The library is for them a place of first contact with a book, a place of fun and spending free time with other children and with parents. It is also a meeting place after school as part of a wide range of classes, workshops and library lessons also during the winter holidays, summer holidays or weekends. Currently, the Library in Wieliczka carries out numerous activities, also for the benefit of seniors. The “Active Senior Club” operating there, in which seniors regularly meet at various classes and workshops, helps develop the passions and interests of participants who acquire knowledge and new skills.
