The main objective of the investment project is to improve the competitiveness of the seaport in Szczecin as a result of increasing access for large sea-going commercial vessels to the bulk cargo transhipment area.

The specific objectives of the investment project are:

  • Increased efficiency of sea transport in relations with the port’s foreground.
  • Improving the efficiency of trade exchange carried out via the port of Szczecin.
  • Limitation of negative externalities generated by sea transport.

The project aims to improve the access in the Kaszubksi Basin area. The project includes the performance of works in the following areas:

  • construction of a dolphin mooring at the Dąbrowieckie Quay (including shore protection);
  • reconstruction and expansion (extension) of the Katowickie Quay and its adaptation to a technical depth of 12.5 m;
  • reconstruction of the Chorzowskie, Chorzowskie-Uskok and Gliwickie-Uskok quays and their adaptation to a technical depth of 12.5 m;
  • strengthening of the eastern corner of the Sosnowieckie Quay (CPN-1) and the corners of the islands of Ostrów Mieleński and Mieleńska Łąka;
  • closure of the Notecki Basin between the Górnośląskie and Dolnośląskie quays and the land reclamation of the Notecki Basin with spoil from dredging works performed at the rebuilt quays and on the fairway in the Kaszubski Basin;
  • construction of new storm water drainage outlets in the Chorzowskie, Katowicki, Dąbrowieckie and Górnośląskie quays and reconstruction of the storm water drainage outlet in the Gliwicki-Uskok quay;
  • dredging works in the Kaszubski Basin in order to obtain a technical depth of -12.5 m; In the fragment of the Parnica River (at the Dąbrowieckie quay) dredging works will be carried out to obtain 10.5 m. Within the scope of the dredging works, an extraction of potential hazardous objects (ferromagnetic objects) is also foreseen.
  • construction and reconstruction of dump sites in Ostrów Grabowski (PR6 and PR7).
  • Most of the spoil will be deposited in the dump field on Ostrów Grabowski. The rest of the spoil resulting from dredging works will be used firstly to land reclamation of the Notecki Basin, build over the existing dolphin stand at the Katowickie Quay and in earthworks at the quays under reconstruction.
