Reconstruction of the SKA (Fast Agglomeration Railway) “Cracow Swoszowice” railway station along with the construction of a Park & Ride car park
The reconstruction of the station is aimed at organizing an interchange that will connect all types of transport like rail, urban bus and individual transport. This will significantly increase the availability of public transport for travelers, in particular for residents of future districts of Cracow and neighboring municipalities. The purpose of the investment is also to relive the center of Cracow from individual transport by limiting the car traffic on southern side of the city and increasing attractiveness of rail transport as quick access and departure to and from city center. As a result of this investment, the SKA station “Cracow Swoszowice” will also be an alternative to people from neighboring municipalities.
The scope of the investment includes reconstruction of the platform including the demolition of existing equipment, platform edge structure and pavement, and then the reconstruction of the platform in the same location with height and width adapted to applicable standards and rolling stock, using materials, colors, visual and tactile making and equipment platform in accordance with the current guidelines adopted in the company PKP PLK S.A.
In addition, it is planned to build an underground passage equipped with lifts for the disabled, a walkway constituting the exit from the passage, ramps for disabled and stairs. The new underground passage will provide direct and collision-free communication between the Cracow Swoszowice train station located at st Kolejarzy, and a newly building parking lot and a new two-edge platform.
Road infrastructure has been designed to ensure adequate operational efficiency of the Cracow Swoszowice rail passenger stop. Solutions has been proposed that will served all rail users like pedestrians, cyclists, public transports passenger and passenger car users. The road infrastructure includes in access road, P&R car park (154 parking spaces, including 6 for disabled people and 6 electric car charging stations), bicycle parking lots (60 parking spaces), a turning point for public transport buses and suburban buses together with parking spaces for suburban buses, bus bay for public transport buses, parking spaces for TAXI, “Kiss&Ride” stands, access to the platform for technical services (only for PKP), pavements.
