Construction of Northern Through Road (Trasa Średnicowa Północna) in the main skeleton road system in the east-west direction on the section from the bridge route in the axis of Wschodnia Street to Chełmińska Street stage II - The section from the eastern route to Grudziądzka Street
The Northern Through Road (Trasa Średnicowa Północna) is one of the most important elements of Toruń’s main road system and is to run east-west from Szosa Bydgoska street to Szosa Lubicka street.
The main task of Trasa Średnicowa Północna was to create a connection with the existing internal road system of the city and to enable quick movement between the city districts: Chełmińskie, Mokre and Rubinkowo. The implementation of the project had a positive impact on improving traffic flow, capacity and transport safety. As part of the investment, a completely new 3 km long thoroughfare was created with one southern roadway and two roadways between Dworcowa and Chrobrego Streets and near the intersections. The road workers also built all necessary accompanying infrastructure: sidewalks, bicycle roads, bus bays, lighting and noise barriers. Apart from that, works connected with the reconstruction of the heat pipeline, works on water supply system, sanitary and rain water drainage, as well as the electrical and telecommunication network were performed. In the coming years the Northern Through Road will be extended into a two-lane system, thus creating a full road junction with the planned Eastern Route.
