THE URBAN REDEVELOPMENT OF TWO MARGINALISED AREAS – THE RESTO- RATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF NEW SOCIO-ECONOMIC FUNCTIONS FOR PART OF THE “BLOKI” DISTRICT IN CIECHANÓW; THE RESTORATION OF HISTORI- CAL AND CULTURAL VALUES, AS WELL AS THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW SO- CIO-ECONOMIC FUNCTIONS FOR MARIA KONOPNICKA ARCADE IN THE CENTRE OF CIECHANÓW
In 2020, urban redevelopment of Krzywa Hala – one of the most characteristic historic buildings in the Bloki district in Ciechanów – was completed. The investment covered repair and modernisation works, including of the façade and roof.The rooms on the ground floor of the building were adapted for their new functions. The building currently houses: The Municipal Public Library, the Integration Club, the Day Support Centre, and the Local Community Centre. All these institutions offer social and educational activities for the benefit of the local community.
The project won second prize in the Renowacja Roku Zabytków Mazowsza (Mazovia Monuments – Renovation Project of the Year) competition organised by the Mazowieckie Voivodeship Local Government.As part of the project, Maria Konopnicka Arcade was redeveloped, and its historical and cultural icons were restored. The space was adapted for service and commercial activities, including the sales of local and regional products.
