perspective
2014 - 2020

Rabsztyn Castle is one of the gems of the Trail of the Eagles’ Nests. It was built on top of a limestone rock in the second half of the 13th century. The name of the stronghold comes from German (“Rabenstein”) and means “Raven Rock”. With the support of European Funds, the facility was revitalized, making it a more tourist-friendly place.

As part of the project, a modern underground pavilion was created in the castle, which is the central point of tourist services. It contains a charming cafe where to relax and eat. Not only the interior of the castle was renovated – the courtyard received a new surface and drainage. A spacious viewing terrace was also built, offering a breathtaking view of Olkusz and the surrounding area. Further, the external walls were strengthened and reconstructed, and the window openings were secured, restoring the former splendour of the fortress. Important elements of the project are also new terrain stairs and a path made of crushed stone, enabling convenient access to the castle.

This project created new prospects for tourist and cultural development for the region. A place came to life where history and modernity harmoniously complement each other, creating unique experiences for visitors.
