Construction of the VeloSkawa cycle route Ponikiewka - Świnna Poręba Dam
Thanks to EU funding, a section of the VeloSkawa cycle route has been created. A 2.5 km long and 2.5 m wide asphalt section of the cycle path leads from the viewing terrace in Świnna Poręba to the Ponikiewka stream. The project also included the construction of a footbridge on the Ponikiewka and two more on smaller streams.
Most of the new route is separated from motor traffic. Few sections were routed in general traffic with negligible intensity. The average slope is just 1%. As a result, cycling is a great pleasure for bikers, including those with trailers or panniers.
Completed in April 2024, the 2.5-kilometre section linked the existing 3-kilometre cycle path (leading through Jaroszowice and Gorzeń) to the crest of the Mucharski Lake dam.
The extension was of vital importance for the residents of Wadowice and the surrounding area, as it enabled them to make safe, recreational cycling trips to the Świnna Poręba dam. The entire development area is an attractive destination for weekend and seasonal tourism alike. The route offers beautiful views of the Little Beskid and the surrounding Mucharski Lake
