A project submitted for evaluation has a partnership character and will be implemented by two local government units operating on Polish and Ukrainian sides. Its thematic scope will focus on carrying out infrastructural works on both sides of border aimed at development of infrastructure and municipal services in field of wastewater management (construction of a network of sanitary sewage systems and sewage treatment plants) and, as a result, on improving local and regional condition of natural environment (soils, surface waters and groundwater). Taking into account above characteristics of the project, it should be noted that it perfectly corresponds to, among others, with following challenges and preferred directions of intervention defined in Joint Strategy of Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine Programme 2021-2027: – insufficiently developed sewage and water supply network – counteracting negative effects resulting from peripheral location of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland – development of sustainable water management (…), supporting protection of natural heritage’s biodiversity and its resources – improving quality of public services in order to eliminate development limitations in border areas of Poland and Ukraine – counteracting a degradation of natural environment and protection of the most valuable natural assets (these activities are in line with the EU’s postulate of Europe that uses environmental resources more efficiently) – tightening cross-border cooperation between public institutions (…), strengthening their administrative potential – impact on a low level of socio-economic development – impact on a climate changes A confirmation of the above thesis about compliance of the project intervention with challenges for the Programme area is its main objective, which was defined as follows: „Improving condition of sanitary management and implementing a sewage treatment system in area of Belz City territorial community and Belzec Municipality, contributing to
