The common project implementation by Chelm City and Lutsk City solves the problems connected with competitiveness and improvement of accessibility of cross-border areas. As consequences of the project implementation we can assume: the common project management system will be established, the cross-border transportation infrastructure of Chelm and Lutsk will be extended, external audit of project and partners will be conducted, the Platform of Cross-border Transportation Safety will be created and the promotion-informational activities will be led. The implemented activities will allow to improve the competitiveness and enhance the accessibility of cross-border areas, strengthen the cross-border cooperation of the cities Lutsk and Chelm within the common activities aiming at improvement of transportation safety. They will strengthen the accessibility of the cities Lutsk and Chelm and will improve the quality of the transportation infrastructure. They increase the awareness of the inhabitants of Chelm and Lutsk with regard to transportation safety and low-carbon transport. As a result of project implementation 1,87 km of roads will be rebuilt including: 1,15 km in Chelm and 0,72 km in Lutsk. The travel time will be shorter of (reducing of trip time from 2 minutes to 1 minute). Further one partnership will be established, which aims at creation of environment friendly transportation system. Thanks to the project the number of regions/ areas benefiting from the modernised transportation infrastructure will be increased: 2 regions/ counties. The positive and sustainable effect of the project will be establishment of the cross-border platform of transportation safety, within which the meetings dedicated to sustainable cooperation for economical development of the cities and activation of cross-border railway connection Chelm – Kovel (to Lutsk) will be organised. Also, informational activities will be implemented: awareness-raising campaign on low-carbon transport.
