Production technology of the FLOWLINE pipe range for off-shore installations developed as a result of R&D works by REMET S.A.
Project scope:
The REMET company was established in November 2004 (as „Zakład Produkcyjno-Remontowy Remet Sp.z o.o.”), and in January 2009 it changed its name and legal form to REMET S.A.The main activity of the Company is the production and assembly of steel structures for the off-shore and subsea industries (oil extraction from the bottom of the seas and oceans), as well as for the energy industry. Provides material processing services using numerically controlled machines, welding services in accordance with ISO 3834-2, anti-corrosion coating services and assembly services. It has its own technology department and a comprehensive machine park, thanks to which it can produce technically advanced products according to customer documentation and based on documentation developed by its own engineering department.
Qualified and experienced staff contributed to the development of high quality products and services and to the expansion of the production offer. Thanks to its location, it has easy access to production materials and services related to the performance of laboratory tests. Remet S.A. from the beginning of its activity developed trade relations with both foreign and Polish clients, gaining their trust.
Project goals:
The subject of the project was the implementation of the results of R&D works carried out by REMET S.A. R&D works concerned the development of a new technology for surfacing the internal surfaces of low-carbon steel pipes and their connections, enabling the creation of a new product, in the form of a series of high-pressure pipe connections, padded with an internal coating (the so-called FLOWLINE).The justification for conducting R&D works in the area of the above technology was identified among the clients of REMET S.A. the demand for more durable elements of underwater pipelines, characterized by higher service life, anti-corrosion, abrasion resistance and trouble-free operation under high pressures and at variable temperatures. The fulfillment of these requirements depended mainly on the application of an appropriate production process, while maintaining a strict technological regime. To implement the project, it was necessary to carry out technological investments, consisting in the purchase and commissioning of welding pads and fixed assets, which are unique on a global scale, necessary to start the production of the product as a result of completed R&D works.
As part of the project, the following were purchased:
- shielding gas installations for six welding machines
- geometry measuring device
- device for visual testing of pipes with a camera and a scanner
- stand for ultrasonic tests
Project meaning:Thanks to the implementation of the project, REMET S.A. offers customers specialized components of the FLOWLINE pipeline that meet the high requirements for undersea installations, in particular more durable and resistant to harmful external factors. Manufactured according to technology, piping systems are used in oil and gas transmission pipelines between mining and processing installations mounted on the seabed and operating in an aggressive environment. The project also assumed the implementation of the necessary scope of development works related to the launch of the production of welded pipe connections. The project contributed to the implementation of OP IE objectives by implementing product and process innovation based on the results of the applicant’s own R&D works.
“As a result of the project implementation, a product innovation in the form of high-pressure pipe connections and process innovation in the form of innovative welding technology have been implemented, both processes are innovative not only on a national” – summed up the beneficiary.
