Reconstruction of a tenement house for social purposes with the Center for Supporting Non-Governmental Organizations in Sokółka
The tenement house at Plac Kościuszki 26 in the center of Sokółka is a historic building. According to the materials in the collections of the Provincial Office for the Protection of Monuments in Białystok, the tenement house was built in the 18th century. The outbuilding located on the northern side probably dates back to the 19th century. The Sokółka Center for Non-Governmental Organizations, the University of the Third Age Association and the Municipal Family Help Point are located in the renovated building.
On the ground floor of the restored house there is a kitchen room and a recreation room. Seniors will benefit from them. The rooms are equipped with a kitchenette with a fridge, oven with microwave, dishwasher, induction hob, cutlery and electric kettle, as well as a TV, sofa, couch and wardrobes.
In the corridor on the same floor of the building, the space is filled with an illuminated case displaying original elements obtained during the renovation, including: roof truss structure, nails, a fragment of a cornice and a ceiling beam.
The rooms on the first floor are used by non-governmental organizations and the Municipal Family Help Point. The exercise room is equipped with an electric treadmill, stationary bike, ladder and rehabilitation mattress. There is also a room for meetings and conferences, as well as a room with a kitchenette.
