Preservation and promotion of the common cultural heritage through museum activities
For a long time Homel region and Lublin province had appertained to one state: firstly, it was the Polish- Lithuanian Commonwealth, then the Russian Empire. This period was characterized by multiculturalism and multireligion. Poles, Lithuanians, Jews and Ruthenians lived side by side, built and created history of their nations. Magnate and noble families exerted significant impact on development of the state, i.e. by funding construction of road infrastructure, sacral architecture, palaces and manors. Many palaces and sacral architecture, that remain despite the turbulent history, nowadays serve communities in the form of museums. Museum exhibitions create opportunity to learn about history of „small homelands”, to search for own roots, origin, and history of origin nations. The project is targeted at following local museums: Museum in Khoiniki (Belarus), Museum of Stanisław Staszic in Hrubieszów, Museum of the Łęczyńsko – Włodawskie Lake District in Włodawa; Museum of Józef Ignacy Kraszewski in Romanów. Museum in Khoiniki (Belarus), The park and palace complex in Khoiniki is a remarkable showpiece of the city and common Polish-Belarusian history.
