perspective
2014 - 2020

The common problem for the territory of the Program is the low level of tourism development in these regions. These regions are rich for common cultural and historical heritage, but currently are characterized by a lower level of economic development. In the past, they were united by historically known First Hungarian-Galician Railway which is not functioning as one object at present time. There is the actual question of restoration of railway communication between Przemyśl, Khyriv and Sanok, which will encourage the growth of the number of tourists in these regions. The objects of historical and cultural heritage located near this railway are unknown to the general public. The general goal of the project is the preservation of historical and cultural heritage of the objects near historically known First Hungarian-Galician Railway, strengthening of cultural relations between residents of border regions of Ukraine and Poland, improvement of attraction of the objects of historical heritage in border regions and improvement of stability of the local communities by increasing the income from tourism. The main products of the project: – promoted objects of the First Hungarian-Galician Railway and objects of cultural and historical heritage near it; – cross-border cultural and scientific activities connected with the history of railway development in the region; – promoted internal tourism routes on both sides of the border; – the concept for the preservation of common cultural and historical heritage by the development of railway tourism. During the project realization a cross-border approach will be used, because the objects of cultural and historical heritage aimed for promotion by the project form a single whole and are located on both sides of the border. Local communities will be involved to joint participation in events which will take place simultaneously on both sides of the border.
