Launch of an innovative road slab system as a result of research and development work
Transbet’s main activity is the production of concrete mixes and elements. Thanks to the EU-funded project, a new system of concrete road slabs was introduced to the company’s offer. The product can be used for temporary road surfaces, on construction sites and as a target solution for the construction of low-traffic roads or elements of infrastructure such as car parks. The new product is a result of the research and development works carried out independently by Transbet. Their implementation has improved the product’s key technical and performance parameters in terms of mechanical and weather resistance. It is also worth highlighting the environmentally friendly nature of the solution, achieved through the use of raw materials of waste and natural origin. A number of investments were made, including the creation of new production areas and the acquisition of a machinery park with a new line for the production of prefabricated reinforcement elements.
Comment:
The implementation of the project made it possible to introduce a new, innovative product to the offer, namely a tongue-and-groove road slab. The slab is made of concrete class C25/30 F100 (for temporary applications) and C30/37 F150 (for permanent applications). Product’s absorbability, abrasibility, strength and frost resistance were tested. The slab has additionally an effective connection system with other slabs, allowing successful water drainage and reducing the tendency for slabs to shift. Moreover, the applied polymer coating increases watertightnes and resistance to abrasion and impact. Thanks to the project, the company has created three new workplaces. The current year (2022) has brought us unexpected volatility and unpredictability in the geopolitical, macro and microeconomic situation. We are observing continued demand in infrastructural construction.
