Modernization of the Odra weirs on the section managed by RZGW Gliwice - Opolskie Voivodeship (stage II)
The current technical condition of weirs may be an obstacle on the waterway creating the so-called Bottlenecks. They need to be modernized.
The scope of the investment includes the development of design documentation along with obtaining all necessary decisions enabling the implementation of the task, investor’s supervision and construction works related to the implementation of three separate projects on the Krępa, Groszowice and Dobrzeń barrages. Each of them assumes the replacement of sectoral weir closures with hydraulic-operated flap closures and the necessary reconstruction of the concrete structures of pillars, abutments and spans. Fish ladders for bi-environmental fish, engine room superstructures and footbridges for barrow housing estates will be built, and the footbridges over the weir, weir control rooms, distribution dams, weir and bank protection in the vicinity of weirs, access roads and yards as well as energy infrastructure will be reconstructed. The facilities will also be equipped with automatic and remote damper control systems as well as systems monitoring the operation of devices and building safety.
The main goal of the project is to clear the navigable route on the Oder and restore transport possibilities by ensuring a constant and stable level of water damming that guarantees navigation. The reconstruction of the facilities is also aimed at improving the condition of devices and elements of technological equipment in terms of their operational, control and communication usefulness, protection against theft and vandalism, as well as clearing a section of the river for the needs of fish, the so-called two-environment, while ensuring the proper parameters and technical condition of the facilities.
The investment will contribute to the improvement of the operating conditions of the facilities in terms of their failure-free operation, and thus the efficiency of the control of the process of passing water through the analyzed weirs, which in the current technical condition pose many operational problems resulting from frequent failures, which are associated with the inability to properly maneuver the closures and maintain them. the correct level of navigable water.
The investment will contribute to the socio-economic development of the region through:- improvement of flood safety of inhabitants of Dolnośląskie and Opolskie voivodships- increase in the quality and attractiveness of the area located in the vicinity of the Odra river;- stimulating the local economy at the project implementation stage; – reducing the negative impact of transport on the environment.
