The Project entitled “High quality of education in medical faculties at Hipolit Cegielski State University of Applied Sciences in Gniezno with the use of the Monoprofile Medical Simulation Centre” is being implemented. The main objective of the Project is to improve the quality of education in the field of Nursing at Hipolit Cegielski State University of Applied Sciences in Gniezno, hereinafter referred to as ANS Gniezno (formerly Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa im. Hipolita Cegielskiego w Gnieźnie, refered to as PSW Gniezno) through the implementation and execution of the development program, including establishing the Monoprofile Medical Simulation Centre (MCSM) for the nursing course within the structures of the University. The main objective will be achieved through the execution of the following specific objectives:

1) Strengthening the didactic potential of the University by adapting the educational program to the requirements of the labour market and comprehensive methodological training of scientific and technical staff.

2) Reinforcing the practical preparation of students by increasing the number of classes conducted through medical simulation methods with the use of modern equipment and increasing their competences in the scope of changing epidemiological and demographic trends.

3) Elaborating the development program in the scope of education by means of medical simulation, which increases the quality of education in the field of nursing.

4) Establishing the Monoprofile Medical Simulation Centre.

So far, the following tasks have been accomplished:

  1. Redevelopment of space for the purpose of establishing the MCSM.
  2. Purchasing equipment for the MCSM and establishing the following:
  • high-fidelity nursing room,
  • ALS simulation room,
  • nursing skills training room,
  • control room (with system/software for control and audio-video recording),
  • OSCE examination room,
  • BLS simulation room,
  • technical skills training room.
  1. Installing control system for simulation sessions in MCSM rooms – cameras, microphones and speakers.
  2. Elaborating University Development Program, which received a positive opinion of the National Council for Accreditation of Nursing and Midwifery Schools – CRASZPiP and was approved by the Resolution of the University Senate of 27th September 2021 and intended for implementation.
  3. Installing electronic applications intended for scenario database.
  4. Participating in the training by university staff, technicians, and IT specialists according to the schedule.
  5. Engaging in supporting the nursing students according to the schedule
  6. Developing a medical simulation manual and elaborating electronic application with access to simulation scenarios database.

On 24th September 2021, a ceremonial opening of the MCSM at ANS Gniezno was held. At present classes for nursing students in MCSM rooms are conducted by qualified staff of the University in accordance with the simulation classes scenarios developed during the training and University Development Program.
