perspective
2014 - 2020

In Cracow, with the support of European Funds, the most modern technical facilities for railway vehicles in Poland were built. The core task of the facility is the ongoing and planned operation of trains – that is their maintenance and service. The spacious industrial building contains such facilities as the offices and warehouses, along with two tracks for inspections and repairs of rolling stock and the third one serving as a washing station.

The facility is equipped with such elements as an under-track lathe, a bridge crane, a device for measuring wheel pressure, a laser system for measuring and controlling wheel wear, rail vehicle lifts, a station for emptying toilets and launching tanks, and a station for sanding and de-icing trains.

The project includes solutions that contribute to the protection of the natural environment. Proper thermal insulation of the building was used and a closed-circuit car wash was built, along with drainage of the track system to a retention tank.

The specific benefits for Koleje Małopolskie that flow from its own facilities include: saving time needed to bring trains to the inspection site, eliminating the risk of waiting for external operators to enter the service tracks and creating new jobs.

The facilities also provide strong support in the implementation of the main task of Koleje Małopolskie, that is providing public services in the field of public transport and ensuring the effective organization and operation of passenger railway traffic in the Małopolska Region.

Accordingly, the newly established Technical and Operational Point (PTE) is necessary to strengthen and develop the railways in Małopolska, and to make passengers’ travel safer and more comfortable. Thanks to this project, the railways in our region will become even more modern, clean and punctual.
