Health is important

The challenging pandemic experience of the past two years has underscored our unwavering conviction that nothing is more precious than our health. Regrettably, this new reality persists as the perilous COVID-19 virus continues to pose a threat.

For several months, our unwavering focus has been on safeguarding the health and lives of thousands of people. Numerous healthcare institutions across Lower Silesia procured specialized equipment and personal protective gear. Yet, the Healthcare Team in Bolesławiec demonstrated exceptional commitment by harnessing European Union funding to establish a modular infectious diseases ward. This initiative became imperative in light of the ongoing epidemic, demanding a rapid expansion of hospital bed capacity, including specialized respiratory care units. This endeavour was groundbreaking, as the hospital was constructed using pre-fabricated modules, thus conserving precious time— an indispensable resource during those critical days.

The Healthcare Team in Bolesławiec underwent a remarkable transformation into a specialized infectious diseases hospital, providing comprehensive care to COVID-19 patients. The patients had access to a wide array of medical services tailored to the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19. These offerings encompass in-house imaging diagnostics, state-of-the-art PCR molecular biology laboratories, a network of 12 mobile swab collection points, three swab ambulances, and a dedicated isolation unit. This transformation became possible thanks to the hospital’s adept utilization of European Union funding secured through the ‚Improving the Accessibility and Quality of Healthcare Services to Mitigate COVID-19 Incidence in the Region’ project, which allocated nearly 92 million Polish zloty from the regional program. Numerous healthcare institutions across Lower Silesia actively participated in this collaborative effort.

The exceptional dedication exhibited in serving patients during these demanding times received well-deserved recognition from a panel of experts. The Bolesławiec Healthcare Team emerged victorious in a competition that championed pioneering solutions and technologies designed to enhance the safety of both hospital patients and staff. This prestigious prize was conferred in the “Innovative Hospital Management” category, in recognition of their project “Enhancing Accessibility and Treatment Quality for Individuals Affected by the SARS-CoV-2 Virus through the Establishment of a Modular Infectious Diseases Ward with Essential Equipment at the Bolesławiec Healthcare Team”
