perspective
2014 - 2020

A joint project of Zagorz and Nadvirna aims at using and promoting monuments and the potential of local artists of culture and art. Historical and cultural festivals, which will be held on the 15th century ruins of the Kuropatwa Castle in Nadvirna and around the ruins of the 18th century Monastery in Zagorz, will serve this purpose. These cultural events will create new tourist products, i.e. festivals showing the historical and cultural values of our region. One way to promote such values is to organize events with an audience but the other important thing is to widely promote the region with billboards, promotional spots and citylights, as well as articles in media. The cultural heritage of the PL and UA border area, including the existing historical infrastructure and the potential of local artists of culture is not used in an optimal way. The implementation of the project aims at changing this situation by improving the level of use of cultural heritage and human capital regarding artists of culture and art in such a way that it becomes an inspiration for attractive tourist products, and thus influences the increase of tourists’ inflow in this area. The basic idea of the action is fire, which as the leitmotif and inspiration of the project is the driving force of the whole modern civilization. In history, the use of fire has had a breakthrough nature for cultures regardless of geographical location. Without fire, there would not be many inventions or pieces of art constituting the basis for the development of a broadly understood civilization. At the same time, fire was, and is, in human history, synonymous with destruction and violence. This universal reflection on the opposite natures of fire is crucial to understand painful historical relations between the PL and the UA. The result of the project is therefore a reflection and a timeless message, in which the fire on the PL and UA borderland will have only positive connotations as a synonym for integration.
