Gente Ruthenus, natione Polonus. Legacy of Jan Andruszewski of Smolin.
Jan Andruszewski was a doctor, social worker and writer who spent most of his life in Radruż, Smolin and the adjacent area. Care about others, especially the poverty stricken, the sick and the children was his inclination is naturally well visible in his works. His attitude to the local community and their problems shows an unprecedented approach of love, compassion and solidarity. Even though he was a highly respected person of his times, nowadays his noble deeds as well as his legacy seem to be completely forgotten and ignored. The overall objective of the project is to remind the figure of Jan Andruszewski to the local community and present him to the tourists visiting the area of Podkarpackie voivodship in Poland and Lvivska oblast in Ukraine. His memory will be recalled and preserved thanks to the activities undertaken within this project. This task was taken by the Smolin Andruszewski Foundation, which represents the heritage of Andruszewski Family Manor House, Park and Domain, currently divided by the border, previously common homeland. The activities of the Project will influence people of both nationalities by recalling common history, i.a. thanks to the legacy of Jan Andruszewski from Smolin. The Beneficiaries from Poland and Ukraine will gather Jan Andruszewski’s masterpieces and release them as bilingual books and audiobooks. The common events promoting the artist’s message of social sensitivity and compassion will at the same time bring back the multicultural past. The documentary picture of life and legacy of Jan Andruszewski will be presented in the film, including music and notable persons of that time, places and poems of Jan Andruszewski. Moreover, the Tourist Shelter Point with the information board will be established in the Smolin Manor/Park area to serve as the support in the tourism development on both sides of the border. The Beneficiaries will also provide the public with information about the origins of the tombs of St. Paraskeva church.
