Rural center for social activity in Janków Skarbowo - social infrastructure for residents
The Rural Social Activity Center for two villages: Jankowo-Skarbowo and Jankowo-Młodzianowo (Nowogród commune) was officially opened on June 23, 2023.
According to the mayor of Nowogród, Grzegorz Palka, both villages have about 290 inhabitants.
It’s a large and very active community. The residents still operated in the old building, which was impossible to renovate, but they protected it from demolition. They themselves decided on the purpose of the site where the school was to be built. They chose a designer, selected materials and prepared a development concept, and finally, they made a decisive effort to equip the rooms, including air conditioning, furniture and a modern kitchen – emphasized mayor Grzegorz Palka with appreciation.
He added that despite the huge commitment of both towns, the investment would not be possible without support from the regional program. The funding from this source amounted to PLN 670,000. PLN with construction costs of PLN 940,000. In the final stage, the village residents used, for example, government funds intended to support rural women’s associations, and they were also able to obtain private sponsors to purchase equipment.
The center in Janków is primarily used by firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Department and the housewives’ association. There are nearly 50 men in Fire Department and 30 women in association.
We need a place like this. People live differently when they can meet and talk. As a group, we have already achieved achievements, e.g. in the “Battle of the Regions”, and our flagship product is potato cake. The construction of the center greatly integrated our two villages – said Agnieszka Dąbkowska, president of Rural Housewives’ Circle “Jankowianki” and vice-president Dorota Kadela.
