Improvement of railway safety through building the Examination and Monitoring of Train Drivers System
The project “Improvement of railway safety through building the Examination and Monitoring of Train Drivers System” is nationwide. The purpose of the project is an implementation of a uniform and coherent process of train drivers examination and, as a result, improvement of railway safety by minimizing railway incidents within the railway system, in which the human factor plays an essential role. It covers the examination process which is the final stage of work training. The verification of the acquired knowledge and skills performed during the exams is a kind of validation of the training correctness as well as the assessment and confirmation of the candidates’ abilities to individual railway vehicles driving.
Through the realization of the project, the following solutions will be implemented:
- state examinations for candidates for train drivers, which so far have been conducted in training and examination centers, commercial units focused on economic profits – in effect ensuring uniformity, impartiality, introducing standards and increasing the level of training,
- using railway vehicles simulators as modern and adequate tools for the examination process,
- an IT tool to the handling the examination process, which will allow for standardization, efficiency, impartiality and reduction of abuse,
- an IT tool to the handling the monitoring the qualifications of train drivers and railway vehicles drivers process – ability to perform their duties in a way that ensures safety on the railway network.
