Improving the living conditions of seniors in the Siemiatycze commune
Seniors from Wiercień Duże gained a place to spend their free time actively. They will be able to take advantage of a wide range of classes, workshops, group and individual rehabilitation and individual consultations.
The Senior Club in Wiercień Duży has been operating since July 1, 2022 and is implementing a project aimed at increasing access to high-quality care services for people who need support in everyday functioning.Seniors participate in numerous activities. They learn how to use a computer, demonstrate their culinary talent during cooking workshops, and take part in art, floristry and dance classes. Older people also have the opportunity to receive health advice from specialists: a psychologist and a diabetologist, as well as individual rehabilitation services and classes.
Seniors are very satisfied with the time they spend in the club and are very reluctant to leave. They feel really nice here, said Halina Leszczyńska, manager of the municipal facility.
She adds that the project involves 20 people (14 women and 6 men) from the Siemiatycze commune, aged 60 and over among women and 65 and over among men, accepted as part of the recruitment process.
The senior club’s headquarters is located in the former village hall. Thanks to EU funds, it was renovated and adapted to the needs of the facility.
The idea of this type of project is to share this facility. People should be provided with conditions so that they can come and spend their free time. I am convinced that these community centers that we are creating and renovating will fulfill this function – said Edward Krasowski, mayor of the Siemiatycze commune.
The club in Wiercień Duży is the fifth facility of this type operating in the Siemiatycze commune.
