perspective
2014 - 2020

“Environmental protection often confronts the development of tourism, thus reducing the potential benefits of cultural and natural heritage for local communities. This increases the dissatisfaction of local communities with the protected status of natural and cultural heritage sites and environmental policy in general. This can be changed by developing innovative tourist attractions, which would include the management of natural and cultural heritage sites and the active involvement of visitors in these activities. Implementation of previous projects confirmed our thesis that Europeans are more aware of the need to protect nature and heritage and are keen on initiatives for sustainable development. Natural and cultural heritage assets management as touristic products would provide additional alternatives for tourists, create new sustainable tourist destinations and bring more benefits to communities. This is in a line with programme’s specific objective 2.1. “Increased development of the South Baltic area’s natural and cultural heritage assets into sustainable tourist destinations”. The main tools that could be used to address issues presented above would be to bring together experiences and approaches, involve experts, practitioners and stakeholders from diversified fields, summarize good practice, create new touristic products and connect them info joint South Baltic offer. As such attractions would be specific, unique and strictly connected to South Baltic potential, it is expedient to use ERDF mechanism for more effective implementation, capitalisation and promotion – creating a network of tourist areas with such attractions in the South Baltic region. Seed Money project is therefore need to meet partners from at least 4 SB countries; establish cross-borders partnership; develop model for implementation of the project; analyze and describe target groups, objectives, outputs, deliverables and prepare a logical sequence of activities implementation.”
