Two partnering regions – Lublin and Uzhhorod – are facing difficulties in the modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods in the field of cardiovascular diseases and diseases requiring neurosurgical treatment in particular of victims of military conflicts. Victims of war are any person who suffers from armed conflicts, hostilities or wars. These injuries can have a variety of forms and affect both the body and the psyche. Experiencing war or experiencing traumatic conflict-related events can lead to chronic stress and mental disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. These emotional states can increase the risk of heart disease by affecting the cardiovascular system, increasing blood pressure and leading to unhealthy behaviors such as excessive alcohol consumption or smoking. Wars often destabilize societies, leading to a loss of access to basic health services, education and work. This, in turn, can affect people’s lifestyles, leading to a worse diet, lack of physical activity and other risk factors for heart disease. Likewise wars can disrupt food supplies and lead to nutritional shortages. Lack of access to healthy and balanced meals can increase the risk of heart disease by affecting cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure. During war, health systems are often overloaded or completely destroyed. This leads to difficult access to medical care and medication, which can negatively affect the control of chronic diseases, including heart disease. Also can lead to the release of toxic substances, such as chemicals or radioactive substances, which can have a negative impact on the health of the heart and blood vessels. During wars and armed conflicts, the risk of physical injuries, including chest and heart injuries, increases. This can lead to serious cardiovascular complications.
