Project partners – Voivodeship Hospital in Suwałki and Volyn Regional Clinical Hospital, taking into account the analogous socio-economic conditions of Podlaskie and Volyn oblast, among others: the growing health debt resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic situation and, additionally in Ukraine, the armed conflict, armed conflict; the successive increase in morbidity and mortality rates for many diseases of civilisation, including in particular cancer and the cardiovascular system and ageing population, as well as coinciding identified needs (reflecting expected changes to make to the current situation in the partner institutions/regions) arising from the above, including, i.a.: • implementing innovative management tools and the technical, technological and organisational solutions correlated with them – Lean Healthcare; • improving the quality of medical infrastructure in the area of surgery, as a medical speciality with broad application in the treatment of many conditions – purchase of modern medical equipment and apparatus, modernisation of premises (as a model for Lean Healthcare; • improving the quality of medical infrastructure in the area of surgery – purchase of modern medical equipment and devices, adaptation of premises; • increased expertise in emergency response and operations, with a particular focus on battlefield injuries; • an increase in staff knowledge and awareness of the role of modern management methods in improving medical processes; undertake a joint project formed of a wide range of activities bringing tangible benefits to hospitals in PL and UA on the basis of exchange experiences, know-how and good practices. All of the above-mentioned needs addressed in the joint project boil down to one main objective in the form of improvement of equal access to specialist medicine in the field of surgery in Podlaskie and Volyn regions by cross-border cooperation undertaken.
