The project is of a collaborative nature and will be implemented by three entities operating on the Polish and Ukrainian sides. Its thematic scope focuses on carrying out infrastructure works on both sides of the border, aimed at developing infrastructure and municipal services in the field of water and sewage management (construction of sewage treatment plants on the Ukrainian side and renovation/modernization of the water and sewage network on the Polish side), and consequently improving the local and regional state of the natural environment (soil, surface and groundwater). Considering the characteristics of the project mentioned above, it should be noted that it aligns well with, among others, the following challenges and preferred intervention directions specified in the Common Strategy of the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine Program for the years 2021-2027: • Insufficient technical condition of sewage and water supply networks, • Countering the negative effects resulting from the peripheral location of the Polish-Ukrainian border, • Development of sustainable water management, supporting the protection of natural heritage and its resources, • Improvement of the quality of public services to eliminate development constraints in the border areas of Poland and Ukraine, • Counteracting environmental degradation and protection of the most valuable natural resources (both regions are located in the same geographical region: Tomaszów Lubelski City – Central Roztocze, Solonkа Village Council – Eastern Roztocze), • Strengthening cross-border cooperation between public institutions, enhancing their administrative potential, • Impact on low levels of socio-economic development, • Impact on climate change.
