perspective
2021 - 2027

Disorganized sewage management poses one of the most significant threats to the natural environment. It results in pollution of soil, surface waters, and groundwater, primarily. The Solina Commune faces a significant challenge due to the lack of complete sewage infrastructure in the communes’s constituent localities. The failure to construct sewage systems leads to further environmental degradation of an extent and scope that are difficult to ascertain. Conversely, the state of the water supply network in Skhidnytsia is very poor, with over 50% of the water supply network being overused and in a constant state of emergency. Drinking water losses during transport and distribution in this network average around 70%. The overall goal of the project is the protection and enhancement of the natural environment, including water resources, through effective wastewater management. This objective will be achieved through the following specific goals: – Reducing environmental pollution by developing wastewater infrastructure and improving wastewater management practices. – Minimizing water losses from water supply systems and enhancing the rational use of water. – Increasing residents’ ecological awareness regarding reservoir protection, particularly water resources, and promoting their sustainable management within the project area. Promoting sustainable water resource management, including wastewater management, and collaborative actions aimed at protecting and enhancing these resources are crucial for several significant reasons: – Ensuring access to clean water. – Protecting aquatic ecosystems. – Minimizing the impact of climate change. – Avoiding water conflicts. – Sustainable economic development. The main scope of the project: 1) Construction of a sanitary sewerage network (6.228 km) with the necessary technical infrastructure for the village of Werlas in the Solina Commune (25 households (approximately 96 people), 1 public facility and 5 businesses connected). 2
