perspective
2004 - 2006

The project aims at effective fight with and prevention of acts related to illegal individual and group border crossings through the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship – Saxony border.

The Dolnośląskie Voivodeship – Saxony border is 112 km long. The passenger cross-border traffic has been related to different forms of border crime for many years now: illegal transit migration and intensified residence migration, forced border crossings, forgery of documents entitling to cross the border, increased level of organised human trafficking through “the green border” and flexibility of criminal groups as regards establishment of new trafficking channels.

Joint coordination system developed by the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Wrocław and Landeskriminalamt Sachsen could not have been effectively applied because Poland lacked appropriate vehicle fleet that would enable compatibility of the pursuit and escort.

The vehicles bought within the framework of the project constitute a modern pursuit fleet adjusted in terms of technology and functionality to carry out jointly coordinated cross-border pursuits and preventive activities with the participation of trained dogs. The vehicles are adjusted to escorting and operating activities on all road categories with different types of surface and under field conditions away from the roadways.

Providing additional equipment to the police from the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship preconditioned the effectiveness of efforts undertaken on both sides of the border and aiming at combating illegal crossings of the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship – Saxony border. The project strengthens the cross-border cooperation of police formations on both sides of the border by unifying the operating and prevention activities.
