Lifelong learning - computer training for adults
Within the framework of the project an open computer course was carried out in Rembertów, which was intended for working adults willing to increase their vocational qualifications on their own initiative, with special emphasis on self-government administration employees. The classes were attended by persons qualified to the programme by a committee of the Office of the Rembertów District of the Capital City of Warsaw. The course was free of charge for its participants (on condition of meeting the requirements set out in the project). The total number of course participants amounted to 120 persons. The project aimed at providing support to persons who on their own initiative and according to their own needs are willing to develop vocationally in their free time. The project implementation increased the level of the society education. Persons completing the course obtained key computer skills, their professional and personal ambitions increased, which caused their increased vocational mobility.
The scope of the material binding for the classes:
- theoretical background;
- Windows (e.g. creation of a folder and sub-folder, disc formatting skills and printer selection skills);
- Word (e.g. creation of a document, text settings, printing a whole document and parts thereof, margins settings);
- Excel (e.g. creation of a spreadsheet and entering numeric data, letters or formulas therein, knowledge on and application of relative or absolute references to other cells, creation of charts for graphical data analysis in the spreadsheet);
- PowerPoint (e.g. use of graphical tools, simple drawing, making presentations);
- Access (e.g. designing a simple database, creation of a record structure, data editions, reports);
- Internet (e-mail and WWW networks and pages).
The classes were held in the Elementary School no 217 in Warsaw (Paderewskiego 45 St.). The project was implemented by a Non-public Education Support Centre “ECHO” in line with an original curriculum and on its completion participants obtained certificates. The course completion was provided for with obtaining by the participants the European Computer Skills Card and after passing the exams (maximum one year following the course completion) the trainees obtain the European Computer Skills Certificate, which additionally increased their attractiveness on the labour market.
