perspective
2004 - 2006

The project “New quality in rural areas” implemented by Firma Szkoleniowo-Usługowa Spawalnictwo-Instalatorstwo Mieczysław Czajkowski (Training and Services Company, welding and installations Mieczysław Czajkowski) was addressed to farmers and agricultural household members, excluding pensioners and persons registered as unemployed, as well as other persons employed in agriculture sector that are willing to undertake employment outside the rural sector. The project aimed at changing the “hitherto” qualifications of farmers to field employment outside the agriculture sector – equipping farmers in skills that enable new employment and performance of a new profession in relation to the process of restructurization of Polish agriculture.

It should be emphasized that the project enjoyed common interest among local rural communities. It was even necessary to create a reserve list since there was not enough places within the framework of the project. The project participants notified the will to increase their newly obtained skills with new primary and secondary specialisations. Employers seek for persons representing specific professions and on many occasions determined specialisations. Demanding labour market places high requirements on its potential employees. Hence broadly-conceived assistance to rural residents is justified. Obtaining new professions, skills and qualifications will contribute to the increase in the number of qualified staff under a given sector of national economy.

Moreover it needs to be highlighted that the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship covers areas of post state farms, which were dominated by only one type of activity – agriculture. As a result of liquidation of the state farms the number of persons with low and relatively narrow qualifications significantly increased. These difficulties can be eliminated by vocational reorientation of farmers. This project includes trainings within the scope of specialist welding for persons leaving agriculture sector, men in particular. Achievement of new qualifications by the beneficiaries will contribute to the growth of the sense of their own worth on the labour market. The trainings covered basic welding with the use of the MAG-135 method (non-alloy steel welding with a consumable electrode in active gas shielding) and basic electric welding with E-111 method (coated electrodes welding).
