Promotion of quality tourist products in Lower Silesia
Touristically, Lower Silesia is one of the most attractive regions in Poland. With its scenic landscapes, sights galore, recreation areas and the proximity of the Czech Republic, visitors are guaranteed to enjoy an adventurous break at any time of the year.
One of the treasures of the region is the mountains known for excellent trails and amazing rock formations, notably in the Góry Sokole (Falcon Mountains) and Góry Stołowe (Table Mountains). There is no shortage of bustling summer and winter resorts, the most popular of them including Szklarska Poręba, Karpacz, Czarna Góra and Zieleniec. For winter sports enthusiasts, there are well-maintained pistes and modern lifts.
The natural treasures of Lower Silesia deserve a special mention. The region boasts more than a hundred nature reserves, sixteen landscape parks and two national parks, in the Karkonosze and the Góry Stołowe.
Lower Silesia is also a land of health replete with Poland’s most renowned spas. There are as many as eleven of them here, and the therapeutic properties of their waters have been taken advantage of for centuries. The painstakingly restored architecture, beautiful villas, guesthouses and spa parks in resorts such as Lądek, Kudowa or Szczawno Zdrój do not only attract patients.
Castles and palaces are a regular feature of the Lower Silesian landscape. Some survive as evocative ruins while others have been carefully restored. Many of them are now stylish hotels, recreation centres or business and conference complexes. The best two are the castles in Książ and Czocha, both stirring the imagination and evoking the atmosphere of the past. The medieval ramparts now provide a backdrop to spectacular tournaments and historic re-enactments.
Lower Silesia also boasts an abundance of engineering monuments: old mines, steel mills, shafts, dams, canals and forts. Religious architecture buffs and pilgrims come to local shrines, churches and the impressive monastic complexes in Henryków, Lubiąż and Krzeszów built centuries ago by the Cistercians.
The region’s cultural scene deserves a special mention as it is renowned for innovative artistic activities, theatres, galleries and excellent international festivals. The main venue for these is Wrocław.
All this impressive tourist offering of Lower Silesia was publicised by a billboard campaign. For nine months, the region’s attractions were promoted in Poland’s eight biggest cities. The campaign was supported by advertising on television, radio, InterCity trains, planes and ferries sailing to Scandinavia as well as at exhibitions in Germany and Finland. The promotion is continued on a website.
The campaign won the first place in the 3rd contest Poland Even More Beautiful. Seven Miracles of EU Funds in the Promotional Product category.
