Modernization of electric multiple units
The aim of the project was to ensure efficient and accessible passenger rail transport in the Mazowieckie voivodeship, as characterized by high-quality transport offer.
As part of the project, the Company continued the process of modernizing its existing stock of electric multiple units (EMUs). This project included EMU upgrades carried out in 2007-2009 and upgrades ordered in 2010-2011. In total, some 184 EMUs were modernized between 2007 and 2011.
The rolling stock upgrades were all carried out during periodic rolling stock repairs: major overhauls and inspection repairs. The modernized rolling stock will be serviceable for up to 15 subsequent years. Rolling stock upgrades included both the replacement of EMU main running and traction units, control systems and equipment for the driver’s cab, and the equipment of the passenger part of the trains.
