Central Roztocze Geotourism Trail
A new geotourism trail has been marked out in the communes of Józefów, Krasnobród and Susiec, the Józefów and Zwierzyniec Forest Districts and the Roztoczański National Park. It is 68 kilometers long and leads through the most interesting landscapes and nature spots of Central Roztocze, as well as through closed quarries and tunnels.
The route has been prepared for pedestrians, cyclists and motorized tourists. The trail leads, among others through areas under nature protection – through the Solska Forest Landscape Park, Krasnobrodzki Landscape Park and Roztoczański National Park. Along with the mapping and marking of the route, the infrastructure for tourists was also taken care of. Gazebos and sheds were built, tables, benches, bicycle racks were installed and information boards were set up. Educational and natural paths have also been marked out in the Józefów Forest District, near the Kościółek hill and at the Nad Tanwią and Czartowe Pole reserves. During the works, the barn in Hamernia was also renovated and it was intended for the exhibition pavilion and the headquarters of the education and information center. The staff inform tourists about natural attractions on the route and places worth seeing.
Be sure to visit the Babia Dolina quarry in Józefów, where a stone observation tower, visible from afar, a quarry in Nowiny with a viewing platform, and quarries in Krasnobród and Szopowy, the adit in Sanderki, the Wapielnia mountain and the sculpture workshop in Majdan Nepryski were built.
