Reconstruction of rail infrastructure in the ports in Szczecin and Świnoujście
The aim of the project was to obtain an efficient and safe rail communication system in ports in Szczecin and Świnoujście on the areas managed by ZMPSiŚ SA. The effect of the modernization was to adapt the parameters of railway tracks in ports to the parameters of modernized E-59 and CE-59 railway lines constituting a rail link of ports in Szczecin and Świnoujście with their domestic and transit hinterlands.
As part of the project, the rail track surface inside the ports has been rebuilt, and also works related to the rail tracks have been carried out – drainage works, reconstruction of railway turnouts and levelling the rail tracks with road surface.
The improvement of operating parameters ensured:
- adaptation of the railway superstructure to transfer the maximum pressure of locomotives and wagons amounting 221 kN/axle;
- adjustment of rail track parameters to the parameters of modern rolling stock operated on the modernized TEN-T network, including the E-59 and CE-59 railway lines constituting a railway connection between the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście with domestic and transit hinterlands;
- improving the safety of people and operated rolling stock;
- increase in the number of transhipments with the participation of rail transport, thus contributing to the increased investment attractiveness of port and port-related areas.
