Reconstruction and modernization of the ‘Powszechny’ Theater in Warsaw
The subject of the project was the reconstruction and modernization of the infrastructure of Zygmunt Hubner’s ‘Powszechny’ (i.e. ‘common’) Theater, located in Warsaw’s Praga Południe (Praga South) district, at 20 Zamoyskiego Street. ‘Powszechny’ Theater was established in 1945 and was the first theater opened in Warsaw after the II WW. The reconstruction and modernization of the Theater was comprehensive and contained the enlargement of theater stages and increasing the number of seats in the auditorium, reconstruction of corridors inside the Theater and construction of the storeroom. The modernization of the Theater included, inter alia, the purchase and installation of lifts for the people with disabilities, the installation of modern lighting and sound equipment, as well as the installation of modern ventilation facilities and air conditioning.
Thanks to the expansion, the theater area was increased by 700 square metres and the cubature by 3500 cubic metres. The main entrance was expanded and an independent connections to one of the stages were added.
The total number of seats on all three theater stages increased.
The implementation of the project has improved the availability, functionality, energy efficiency, security and aesthetics of the building and its surroundings.
