Construction of "Park & Ride" strategic parking lots - Stage II
The construction of 8 parking lots received support under the project:1. “Al. Krakow “2. “Ursus Niedźwiadek”3. “Ursynów”4. “Wawer-SKM”5. “Anin-SKM”6. “Metro Stokłosy”7. ‘Metro Marymont’8. ‘Metro Wilanowska’As a result of the project, a total of 2,217 parking spaces were created, including standard parking spaces for passenger cars, for disabled drivers and about 400 parking spaces for bicycles.The purpose of constructing strategic park and ride parks was to integrate public transport with individual transport and reduce traffic in the city center. The investment was to encourage residents of the peripheral surroundings of the capital to leave cars, as well as bicycles in the parking lot, to change to public transport (tram, bus, metro). An important factor in favor of expanding the P&R system was the improvement of the environment. Restricting car traffic significantly reduces exhaust emissions and noise levels. For parking users, the investment saves time and fuel. It was assumed that parking users will not incur additional parking fees as they can be used on the basis of a ticket or city card. The investment also contributed to unloading traffic on access routes to the center and reducing traffic jams in Warsaw.
