Extension of Nieszawska street in Toruń
Nieszawska Street has long been considered to be the most destroyed and dangerous street in Toruń. The road surface was in a particularly bad condition, showing a lot of potholes, ruts, cracks and undulations. In addition to passenger vehicles and public transport, Nieszawska street is used by a lot of lorries and vans, which take a short-cut and use this road as a detour due to the height limitations of viaducts. These loads caused even greater damage to the surface of the road, which was so badly damaged. As part of the project, a completely new roadway with two lanes as well as sidewalks and a bicycle path were built on the section from Armii Krajowej Square to the administrative border of the city. The projects also included the construction of bus bays and reconstruction of lighting. On the most dangerous sections of Nieszawska Street there were also special protective barriers. In accordance with the design objectives, pedestrian crossings were also created to ensure greater safety.
