IT system of road network management in Toruń
The subject of the project was to implement in the Municipal Road Authority in Toruń subsystems of an IT system for supporting road and traffic management based on GIS (Geographical Information Systems) technology – one of the most modern systems operated in Europe. At the same time, it is a very effective tool for creating a complementary database of road network and traffic and for detailed analysis of these data. The implementation of a modern information system supported by the latest technologies was aimed at adjusting the administration to the information society phenomenon. Thanks to the system, the Municipal Road Authority and the units cooperating with it have the possibility of more efficient data collection and analysis, which makes it possible to carry out road investments with greater care. Using modern IT tools, road users can effectively manage the road infrastructure both at the level of project implementation and at the level of road network maintenance.
