Introduction to the world market of innovative products for the automotive industry based on R&D work conducted
The recipient of the subsidy from EU funds under action 3.2 Support for R&D results implementation is a leader on the European market for producing a range of EPP plastics for the automotive industry.
EPP products are mainly used as protective and construction elements. They are made, for example, in the form of inserts absorbing the energy from car bumpers, which have a great effect on pedestrian safety among other things. They are also elements absorbing energy in doors, sails, seats and many more. The moulding has a wide range of uses, and is made in various forms with different specifications, and the market demands that it is constantly improved.
So far IZOBLOK has only produced solid moulds, made from EPP. However, working with the largest and most innovative automotive concerns (e.g. VW, JAGUAR, Land Rover) and aiming to acquire more as clients (e.g. BMW, Hyundai, Daimler, Toyota), the company encountered a technological barrier – those companies are placing increasing emphasis on innovations in the EPP sector, mainly connecting this type of foam with metal and plastic elements.
In response to this need, the EU funds enabled EPP moulds with metal and plastic inserts to be launched on the international market.
The concept of this product was developed and verified as a result of R&D work carried out earlier. Under the project in question, machines and equipment was purchased which directly increases the production capacities of the recipient’s factory in Chorzów.
Realising the project enabled the company to strengthen its competitive position on the world market, which also contributed to an increase in the global potential of the Polish automotive sector.
