Reconstruction of the road system in Bp Chrapka Square in Toruń
Bp Chrapka Square is an intersection of national roads DK15 and DK80 with the very close proximity of DK91, which is an alternative to the A1 motorway. Due to its location, Bp Chrapka Square is a very important point on the road map in this part of the city, as it serves as a link between the above national roads and Grudziądzka Street (DK91) – the exit road from the city to the north. Before the project, the intersection on Bp Chrapka Square was one of the most important and at the same time one of the most dangerous places in Torun. The solutions used there were unclear for drivers and caused them many difficulties. The low level of safety was also influenced by the large number of crosswalks and the speed that drivers developed within the intersection. As part of the project, a modern turbine roundabout was built on Bp Chrapka square, which improved road safety. Apart from the roundabout, sections of Przy Kaszowniku and Warneńczyka streets were rebuilt – the total length of the rebuilt sections is about 720 m. As part of the task, the entire remaining infrastructure, i.e. sidewalks, bicycle paths, lighting and bus bays, as well as the tram infrastructure were built and reconstructed to the necessary extent.
