Development of sustainable public transport in Gdynia through infrastructure investments, including creation of the Gdynia Chylonia integration node
Main objectives of the project include development of sustainable public transport in Gdynia, development and spatial and functional integration of public transport subsystems, increasing the competitiveness of public transport compared to individual transport, reducing the negative impact of passenger transport on the environment and increasing the participation of people with disabilities in cultural and social life.
Main tasks:
- Creation of the Gdynia Chylonia integration node in the northern part of the city, based on the existing Gdynia Chylonia Fast Urban Railway station: construction of an underground park & ride car park for approx. 140 parking spaces together with accompanying infrastructure and toilet building, construction of above-ground parking spaces and bike parking & ride for approx. 48 parking spaces, construction of pedestrian and bicycle routes along with the necessary passenger service infrastructure and facilities for people with disabilities.
- Creation of bus lanes on selected sections of Morska Street in Gdynia with a total length of reconstructed sections in both directions to and from the city center about 1.7 km.
- Reconstruction of 30 bays of public transport along with their adaptation to the needs of people with disabilities and installation of 41 passenger information boards in the following districts: Chylonia, Pustki Cisowskie-Demptowo, Leszczynki, Obłuże, Śródmieście, Grabówek, Forest plots, Witomino-Radiostacja, Redłowo, Orłowo, Mały Kack, Karwiny, Dąbrowa, including: replacement of the surface of selected bays with a concrete surface, construction of appropriate guide systems for the visually impaired and the use of special polymer concrete profiled curbs, facilitating boarding and disembarkation of buses / trolleybuses to persons in wheelchairs, reconstruction of platforms and pedestrian routes, creating variable content information boards.
